Tae Kwon Do belts and their significance
WHITE - Signifies innocence, as that of a beginning student who has no previous knowledge of Tae Kwon Do.
YELLOW - Signifies Earth, from which a plant sprouts and takes root, as the Tae Kwon Do foundation is being laid.
PURPLE - Represents the changing sky of dawn, as once again the student undergoes a new change and prepares for the transition to advanced student.
ORANGE - Signifies the changes of autumn, as the student's mind and body begin to develop and grow as a result of the new Tae Kwon Do experience.
GREEN - Signifies the plant's growth as the Tae Kwon Do skills begin to develop.
BLUE - Signifies the heaven towards which the plant matures into a towering tree as training in Tae Kwon Do progresses.
BROWN - Represents the ripening or maturing process as that of the advanced tae Kwon Do student whose techniques are beginning to mature.
RED - Signifies danger, cautioning the student to exercise control and warning the opponent to stay away.
BLACK - The opposite of white signifies maturity and dignity , as that of a senior student of Tae Kwon Do who has learned the basic curriculum of Tae Kwon Do and is ready to become a true student of Tae Kwon Do.
